Best Buddies

Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Founded in 1989, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to more than 1,400 college, high school and middle school campuses across the country and internationally. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States. It has accredited international programs on six continents with additional country programs under active development.

The MS Society

The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals that help people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.

Nurse-Family Partnership

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) helps change the lives of vulnerable first-time moms and their babies through ongoing home visits from registered nurses. This evidence-based community health program has proven results including long-term family improvements in health, education and economic self-sufficiency. While helping low-income families, an investment in Nurse-Family Partnership saves communities more than it costs by reducing welfare, healthcare and juvenile justice expenditures.

In 1978, The Children's Hospital Foundation was formally established as a separate charitable 501(c)(3) organization dedicated solely to advancing the mission of The Children's Hospital. The Foundation's three purposes are educating and engaging the community on the hospital's behalf, fundraising for the hospital, and investing funds raised on behalf of the hospital.

Humane Society of Boulder Valley

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people. The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is committed to meeting the needs of its human and animal clients through programs and services that help to build community through compassion, caring and understanding. The organization offers refuge to more than 8,000 animals each year.

Colorado Federation of Animal Welfare Agencies

The Colorado Federation of Animal Welfare Agencies (CFAWA) concentrates on issues that impact animals and their owners in Colorado. Through professional cooperation, education, research and legislative participation, CFAWA represents a powerful voice in the advocacy for the protection of companion animals, wildlife and livestock in Colorado. CFAWA is also committed to working with law enforcement, child protection services, prosecutors and the legislature to effectively and accurately identify the link between animal abuse and human violence, and work together toward effective solutions, prosecution and conclusions.

Etown is an exciting weekly radio broadcast heard from coast to coast on NPR, public and commercial stations. Every eTown show is taped in front of a live audience and features performances from many of today's top musical artists, as well as conversations and information about the world around us. The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT)

NCWIT, the National Center for Women & Information Technology, is a coalition of nearly 200 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and nonprofits working to increase women's participation in information technology (IT). NCWIT believes that inspiring more women to choose careers in IT isn't about parity; it's a compelling issue of innovation, competitiveness, and workforce sustainability. In a global economy, gender diversity in IT means a larger and more competitive workforce; in a world dependent on innovation, it means the ability to design technology that is as broad and creative as the people it serves

Voices for Children

Voices For Children CASA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that was established in 1985 by Boulder members of the Junior League of Denver in cooperation with the Boulder County Bar Association. The agency recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who work as CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates). CASA volunteers advocate for and provide services to child victims of abuse and neglect.

The Metro Denver Shelter Alliance

The Metro Denver Shelter Alliance was formed in 2000 by public and private animal service providers in order to better assist pets and people and to reach a common goal of reducing euthanasia by increasing the number of animals adopted and reunited at shelters throughout the community. The mission of the Metro Denver Shelter Alliance is to foster collaborative efforts of local animal welfare groups to increase the live release rate of companion animals in our community and promote responsible pet ownership.

We at Applied Trust strongly believe in giving back to the community in which we live, and we pursue this in several ways.

Culture of Giving
Applied Trust is a member of Boulder County's "Culture of Giving" initiative, a joint effort of The Community Foundation and other Boulder businesses. This group's mission is to create a stronger, more connected community by providing the resources, information and tools to build upon Boulder County's growing philanthropic culture.

Business Partners, a program of The Community Foundation, is one of the components of the Culture of Giving initiative in Boulder County. It recognizes businesses that donate a percentage of their pre-tax profits to charitable organizations in the community.

As a Business Partner, Applied Trust has committed to giving 2 percent or more of our pre-tax profits annually to the nonprofit(s) of our choice. The program recognizes gifts of cash, in-kind services and goods, and employee volunteerism that consists of paid time-off during normal working hours.

One way in which Applied Trust fulfills its Culture of Giving Business Partner commitment is by sponsoring local charitable events. In 2009, Applied Trust continued its commitment to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley with its sponsorship of, and participation in, the "Cause for Paws" Walk-a-thon event in September.

Holiday Charity Contributions
Another way that Applied Trust fulfills its Culture of Giving Business Partner commitment is with our holiday giving program, which involves making donations to a set of local charities in the name of our clients and friends.

Humane Society of Boulder Valley
Applied Trust also volunteers time and resources to benefit the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Although most of Applied Trust's work has been behind the scenes, it has had a beneficial, long-term impact on the Humane Society and the community it supports.

Applied Trust has focused its efforts on upgrading and improving the Humane Society's technology infrastructure, with the goal of making the Humane Society Web site more efficient and more secure.

One of Applied Trust's contributions was donating a new server to host the Web site. This dedicated server replaced the shared environment where the Humane Society site was previously hosted, and the upgrade to a modern Linux architecture greatly increased the flexibility that can be employed to provide enhanced information and services to site visitors.

Applied Trust also worked closely with the Humane Society staff to create an efficient system for posting photos and information for all of the Shelter's adoptable companion animals. The site features up-to-the-hour pictures and descriptions, which are automatically updated directly from the Shelter's database.

Applied Trust Engineering was named a co-winner of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley's Distinguished Service Award for 2002 for its contributions to the nonprofit organization over the previous year. Applied Trust is also an annual sponsor of Humane Society events such as the "Cause for Paws" and "Puttin' on the Leash" fundraisers.
