Co-Founder and Co-CEO
Ned McClain is a Colorado native and co-founder of AppliedTrust. As Co-CEO, Ned is focused on enterprise and cloud architecture, security, and infrastructure. Ned is a "full-stack" engineer and always enjoys a chat about DevOps, opensource, deployment strategies, mobile development, or Linux.
Before starting AppliedTrust in 2001, Ned was director of Infrastructure Engineering at a large consulting firm, where he was responsible for the security of more than 200 client environments involving a wide variety of infrastructure, from wide-area networks to local wireless deployments, for companies such as ConAgra, Empire Blue Cross, and Whole Foods Market. Ned first started developing for the web in 1994, and began developing mobile apps in 1997 for the leading platform of the time, the Palm Pilot.
Ned is a contributing author to the UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook. He has a degree in Computer Science from Cornell University's College of Engineering, and he serves on the Board of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and the Telluride TechFest.
Ned contributes regularly to drupal.org and can usually be found on the #drupal-colorado IRC channel - he recently ported the SMS Framework module to D7 and wrote the shoutbox_rules module. Ned hosts the Drupal Boulder meetup monthly - stop by sometime and introduce yourself! Outside of work, Ned enjoys traveling and skiing with his wife, and camping with their baby and two dogs.
