AppliedTrust Engineer Earns Esteemed GIAC GCIH Security Certification
BOULDER, Colo. -- [February 25] -- AppliedTrust engineer Zack Sanders has earned the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification, which demonstrates his knowledge, skills, and abilities in managing security incidents, in understanding and defending against common attack techniques and tools, and in responding to such attacks when they occur.
The Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) was founded by the SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute in 1999, as a way to meet the need to validate the skills of security professionals. The purpose of GIAC is to provide assurance that a certified individual holds the appropriate level of knowledge and skill necessary for a practitioner in key areas of information security. GIAC certifications are unique in that they measure specific skill knowledge areas instead of general purpose security knowledge.
“This important credential demonstrates Zack’s commitment to IT security and to providing incident handling expertise to AppliedTrust’s clients,” noted Trent R. Hein, AppliedTrust’s CEO. “While it’s always preferable to not experience a security incident in the first place, credentials such as the GCIH validate our experience and convey to our clients that they are in very capable hands if they do need to contact us for this type of assistance,” he added.
GIAC is known as the first true technical security certification. The first GIAC professionals were certified in February of 2000, and today there are more than 29,000 GIAC-certified professionals worldwide.
